What did you pay for training?

Post Number:#1  Postby SidecarMike » Wed Oct 29, 2014 9:39 am

I saw another post advertising a class "at a competitive price".
What is a competitive price?

Better, what are people around the state paying? Here in the Northwestern quadrant, the local technical collegesare charging $17.09. and advertise DOJ Instructors. I should mention that the rest of their curriculum is heavy with law enforcement training so this may not be indicative of other techs in the state.
Wisconsin Carry occasionally offers a free class, but it's been a few years since they did up here.

The local gun shopoffers Wisconsin and Utah for $100, their 6 hour class includes a short talk with a local Police Chief, lunch, and a trip to the range.

What are the rates around the state?

free = Wisconsin Carry. Always free just register and printout your own class material to bring.
~$20 = hunter safety class (1999 pricing)
$125 = 2012 - Just Carry, 4 hr class time( WI, UT, FL training) $5 for finger printing from Kenosha Sheriff Department. - I needed the UT permit for MN carry.

I took the free WCI class in Feb 2012. But when I worked for ACT the WI/UT class was $100 including photos, fingerprints were $10/set. Usually one for UT and another if someone wanted AZ. If I were to go it alone I would charge $50, I have little overhead and it would cover materials and compensate for weekend time away from family.

I paid $125 for a Florida and Minnesota class, which was way too much, but that was at right after the law passed, so everyone was charging outrageous prices. I did my time in active duty, and had hunter's safety, so I did not need the class to get my CCL, but I wanted the information provided in the class. I still only have my WI CCL; I never pursued any other states.
